With the opening of its new offset plate finishing and packaging operation at its facility in Goa, India, Kodak greatly enhances its ability to serve local customers quickly and efficiently. The new offset plate finishing and packaging operation joins the film, photo finishing, and entertainment imaging services in Goa, and leverages the existing infrastructure to address the demands of the local market.
The local finishing capability means that Kodak can cut and supply any size offset plate that is required without having to order new sizes from China or Europe. In addition, local operations improve flexibility, while making it possible to design packaging that is optimized for India’s emerging distribution infrastructure.
“Offset plate demand in India is strong, and our customers need fast, reliable service that meets their production needs and keeps their presses running,” noted Nikumb Bhalchandra, Head of Sales & Channel Management, India Cluster, Kodak. “Being closer to our customers helps us be more competitive and respond more quickly to their needs.”
As a leading worldwide supplier of offset plates, Kodak offers solutions for commercial printing, publishing, and newspapers. Customers in India now have broader access to plate sizes and quantities, and can respond more quickly to unexpected rises in demand as work volume increases. This new presence offers a strong alternative to the existing local supply.
“This step puts our world-class portfolio of plates within easy reach of our customers in India,” said Doug Edwards, General Manager, Prepress Solutions and Vice President, Kodak. “We understand how important it is to know that your supplier is there for you as your business grows. Kodak is excited about the future in India and is committed to being a true partner to our growing base of customers in that area.”
