Quality control has to be simple during the
finishing process of label webs but most importantly very reliable. On this
year’s Labelexpo Americas eltromat introduces the new camera system TubeScan, a
powerful alternative to the current methods of quality control.
Conventional methods such as counting of
labels with photoelectric sensors or the running web visualization with strobe
lights are often reaching limitations and are complicated to use. On the other
hand, automatic image inspection systems are oversized and too expensive for
many applications. The concept of TubeScan sets a new standard with the
intelligent combination of imaging technology and the stroboscopic principle.
TubeScan provides two important functions
with which much more process safety is achieved. The function „digital strobe
web viewing“ always delivers a steady image and true colour fidelity –
regardless of the line speed. Thus, the operator retains in control of the
entire production, even during the critical start and stop phases of the
machine. With the function „missing label detection“ the system is not only counting accurately
labels and missing labels per lane and in total, but detects also remains of
label matrix across the entire web width. This can save the use of more
expensive sensor technology with their time-consuming adjustments.
TubeScan is the first developed product of
the company Nyquist Technology GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture between
eltromat and Nyquist Systems. "With the new system, we will close the gap
regarding quality control of flexible packaging and adhesive labels," says
Dr. Krebs, Managing Director of Nyquist Technology. Specific requirements in
the design were in addition to ease of use also a high image refresh rate,
automatic synchronization, as well as the high-quality image display also of
reflective or metalized surfaces. Hereafter a simple image processing
functionality for counting labels and the false label control is also
important. “TubeScan provides all that reliably,” confirms Dr. Kipp, CEO of
eltromat GmbH and further says “We are convinced that our systems will help the
user in the market to meet quality standards
and improve processes.”
