Asian Flexible Packaging Conference is the place to be..

The Asian Flexible Packaging Conference, Exhibition and Awards (AFTA) 2014 announced its relocation to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 10-11 November. Originally planned for Bangkok, Thailand, AFTA’s management has decided to move the event to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in light of current political instabilities. Also that Malaysia’s print industry is amongst the top five largest in the manufacturing sector in the country gives enough reasons to conduct the same there once again. There are 3,162 print companies registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, many of which are based in Kuala Lumpur - the base of this year’s AFTA event. Till now, the conference locations have included Asian hotspots like Penang, Phuket, Jakarta, Singapore, Manila and Pattaya.

The market potential for packaging in the Malaysian population is over 30 million. The National Statistics Office reports a simple literacy rate of 93.4% (one of the highest in the world) International Monetary Fund and the World Bank listed the Malaysia as number 43 in the world, and represents a good growth market for packaging in the future.

In 2014, the World Bank Report ranked Malaysia as the sixth most business-friendly country in the world. This marks the first time the Southeast Asian country has managed to break into the top ten ranking. The print industry is a significant contributor to its economy, with an output value of over USD 3 billion. According to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the highest investments recorded for 2012 were for the printing and publishing industry, at RM490.3 million. The print packaging market in particular has been accelerating in recent years.

AFTA has introduced the Asian Packaging Design Awards to illustrate the importance of innovative packaging designs.

Good packaging design wins customers – and awards!
Aimed at designers and brand owners, the Awards presentations will be the most comprehensive that the region has seen.  There will be three categories for the awards; Beverages, Food and Beauty/Health. Entries will be judged by an esteemed panel of industry experts and awarded based on visual impact, functionality, innovation and quality of the finished product. The awards will be presented to the winners during the gala dinner along with the prizes on stage. This is also one good enough reason to join Asia’s only regional packaging conference.

It is time to register for Asia’s pre-eminent Flexographic industry conference that brings in together Asia’s leading companies with the aim of information sharing and product development. For more details, log on to www.afta.com.sg
