INX International highlights food packaging expertise, special effects and digital printing technologies at Pack Expo

The INX International Ink Co. booth (E-7657) figured to be a busy place at Pack Expo when the event took place November 2-5 at McCormick Place in Chicago. At a time when food packaging protocols are being revised and updated regularly with little to no leeway when brand identity is at stake, INX directed attention to its Low Migration inks and coatings expertise, Special Effects and Digital Printing technologies.

“This was the first time we exhibited at Pack Expo.  Brand integrity is a key issue, and since standards and guidelines are subject to constant change here in the U.S. and overseas, I think it’s great timing based on what is taking place in the packaging industry,” remarked Rick Clendenning, President and CEO of INX International Ink Co.

“Our team has studied the factors impacting migration for over a decade to develop a complete portfolio of safe inks and coatings. Being at the forefront of new developments means we can support the packaging chain with a wide range of print processes and applications, including special effects packaging. We also have a new Troubleshooting Guide App that instantly helps and educates, another reason why visitors should visit the INX booth during Pack Expo.”

INX Low Migration inks and coatings for non-food contact surfaces are created in a dedicated, state-of-the-art facility to meet stringent government regulations and compliance requirements.  Experts will be in the booth to discuss various energy curable flexographic and offset inks; UV hybrid inks for flat sheet metal decorating; high performance sheetfed inks; energy curable coatings and FDA approved water-based coatings; and oil resistant gas barrier coatings.

First impressions do make a difference, and one way for a brand to break through the clutter is with the use of special effects in the printing process.  INX inks and coatings in this category include soft touch, pearlescent, raised glitter and spot gloss coatings; reticulation varnish; and fluorescent, foil stamp and metallic inks.

Earlier this year, INX teamed with Chromatic Technologies Inc. to offer customers chemistry that can help drive purchases, ensure freshness, increase safety and prevent fraud. The special effects offerings available at Pack Expo include temperature reactive, glow-in-the-dark and color change photochromic inks, plus reveal and security inks.

INX understands the importance to printers of limiting any downtime, and that’s one of the advantages of the new Troubleshooting Guide App. The instant information resource helps printers select and save the most common printing problems. Easy to use, it recognizes symptoms, determines probable causes and finds solutions for many printing applications.
