Two years after
the installation of the LUX Plate Processing System in its North American
premedia operation in Mississauga, Ontario, Trident reports using the LUX Process
on more than 80% of all customer orders. Trident’s strategic decision to invest
in MacDermid’s LUX plate processing technology in 2012 stemmed from a desire to
deliver higher quality and more consistent Flexographic print. “LUX technology
delivers a consistent flat-top dot solution, as evident in the positive
feedback from our CPG customers who are seeing that improvement in quality”
stated Edward Broadhurst, Director of Manufacturing at Trident.
“Our mission is to
provide our customers with compelling, consistent brand execution, and LUX is
one piece of the puzzle that helps us to better deliver on that promise, through
high-quality and consistent print,” stated Mark Sherman, Production Manager at
Trident Toronto. Additionally, he noted, “LUX is the only flat-top dot solution
that allows for an engineered plate surface to reduce mottle and improve solid
ink density.”
The LUX
platemaking process is a simple and easy-to-use technology which produces
flat-top dots on flexo printing plates, thereby enabling printers to
substantially improve their print quality and consistency, making flexo more
competitive against digital, gravure and offset printing processes. To date,
more than 200 LUX installations have taken place across the globe.
